On Brightland's Bookshelf: Cookbook Edition

Welcome back to On Brightland's Bookshelf—this monthly series focuses on what interesting people we admire are reading right now. We could all use a reminder to pursue some screen-free time, and reading is one of our favorite analog activities. This month is a special cookbook edition featuring Team Brightland's very own current favorites.

Gjelina: Cooking from Venice, California by Travis Lett

"This cookbook features recipes from Gjelina restaurant in Venice, CA — one of the first to define now-ubiquitous modern California-Mediterranean cuisine. The recipes are the perfect mix of approachable and seasonal, like pantry staples to make and keep on hand (Charmoula, Shallot Confit), plus rustic pastas, satisfying mains, and an assortment of dishes that highlight fresh California produce, like Pickled Turnips with Meyer Lemon or Warm Date Cake with Ginger Gelato." - Melissa, Marketing

Coconut and Sambal: Recipes from My Indonesian Kitchen by Lara Lee

"I love this cookbook because not only because its recipes lead with umami, comfort, and ease, but Lara spends so much time educating about the dishes and imbuing her own sense of family into it. The Soy Ginger Potatoes are on heavy rotation right now!" - Hannah, Operations

To The Last Bite by Alexis deBoschnek

"I am very excited about Alexis deBoschnek's upcoming cookbook, To The Last Bite -- her recipes are classically timeless, elegant and there's a recipe in there for a greens skillet pie that I cannot wait to recreate." - Aishwarya, Founder/CEO

Pasta by Missy Robbins and Talia Baiocchi

"Pasta is my 'go-to' cookbook whenever I need inspiration. Heading into spring/summer, I have been searching for ways to 'elevate' vegetables. The 'Contorni' (side dish) recipes are excellent--Olive Oil-Poached Zucchini with Grilled Bread and Oregano is going to be a staple in our house this summer." - Nora, Operations

Mastering Pasta by Marc Vetri

"My favorite cookbook right now is Mastering Pasta by Marc Vetri - it’s an incredible resource for all things fresh pasta, from the ingredients (who knew there were so many flours to choose from??), to the technique, to sauces… pretty soon we’ll be running a trattoria from our kitchen!" - Julia, Marketing

All the Stuff We Cooked by Frederik Bille Brahe

"I love everything about this cookbook from the simple, thoughtful recipes to the charming illustrations by Japanese artist Masanao Hirayama. The recipes include a mix of staples from Frederik's renowned restaurants in Copenhagen along with his personal favorites that he cooks at home with his family." - Nora, Marketing

Vegetable Literacy by Deborah Madison

"One of my go-to cookbooks is Vegetable Literacy by Deborah Madison. It's a wonderful source for cooking through the seasons. One of my go-to recipes is her romesco sauce which I make with Brightland's ALIVE olive oil and New Mexico chile powder. Makes everything it touches even more delicious!" - Alisha, Product
